Have you measured your voltage to see if you are charging? Should be over 13 Volts at faster than idle speeds.

The blue wire #61 on the regulator is a ground when the generator is not charging. The gen light has + power always and is switched on and off by this blue ground wire. When the gen starts to charge a set of points in the regulator opens and disconnects the blue wire from ground, shutting off the bulb.

So if the bulb stays on, you are not charging or the blue wire is grounded somewhere or the points in the regulator are fused. It happens.
