| I got this problem, its a philispohical one...When I go to set my valve clearances I try to set it at .006". However, I can slightly change the clearance by pushing on the other end of the rocker arm to better seat the pushrod in the rocker. That usually gives me another .001". How should I set these? Should I push or not push? |

| do whatever you gotta do to get them both to .006. after you do it a couple times you'll get the hang of it. usually when you tighten the nut down the screw driver moves a little bit, so you'll learn to compensate for it by maybe setting to .0065 or .007 depending how much movement you get. oh, and don't push |

I've always pushed the other end of the rocker with my thumb before setting the clearence to .006. "How to keep your bug alive" book by John Muire (sp?) also suggest doing it that way.
In the book he say's to do this to get the "slack out" the push rod. You only need very light push. Don't use any more than you would to push in your head light switch. |
