sounds like you got quite a good deal on your new parts. You didn't specify in your reply but it sounds like you have not driven the car yet is that true?

yes and no, bought a set of custom axels 90's 280 z u joint with adpters, put them on drove out the drive way hit small bump, realized they were 3\4" too long for a 69 bought new oem axels but missing cupped spring washers should be here tues.the engine is out of my rail, which i sold 15 years ago. drounded it with auto trans fluid, plugged all openings, put it in the garage. when i assembled it the only problem was the delorto's main jets dirty runs like it did.built this for my 17 year old.
i hope it can take the abuse. no where to ride around here any more.they made a park for motorcylces 1200 acres, but not enough bug enthuists around that don't mind tearing it up, and florida dosen't have deserts. not allowed to ride on beach.
sorry for the rambling

sounds like some one needs to move to california!

I probebly would never go to work, love to drive and eat sand and wrench. no hills here just mounds you find a place to ride and they fence it off, or build on it. and the woods are too thick tried that.streets are exicting 80% of the drivers are over 75. GO GO DODGE CAR.

Your right I do live near the french valley. And It is street legal. I drive it to work in San Diego almost every day. She will do 70-75 on the freeway, exept for up hill she bogs down really bad. My guess is because of the 31 in tires in the back.

omfg_nick Mon Oct 12, 2009 11:00 pm

picked him up friday for 500. lady didnt know jack sh*t about the bug. not sure if its a 1600 or not, the only code on the motor i could find was "113 129 701 M21" and im not sure what year it is. she said she thought 1962, but who knowssss. any help would be greatly appreciated.....OH and the motor would turn over but wouldnt quite seem to catch, but by time i got it home the keys were gone. so now i have to buy a new key and tumbler. BUT NEED TO KNOW THE YEAR TO BUY THE RIGHT ONE~!! =(

as of now it is comepletely gutted and im working on sand blasting the entire inside of the bug. its coming along pretty good. p.s. it was so bad i hadto wear a doctors mask and goggles while gutting. i was scared i was gunna get asbestos poisoning. =([/img]
