| I built a light bar and attached some Baja Champion fog lights to it. I will get a pic up on here tomorrow (it was dark when I got done). It isn't the most beautiful thing, but I only have a stick welder. At least I know it won't break. |

Okay, so here are the latest pics of my bumper adventre. I'm now debating if it needs fenders. I kinda like not having them.

I can get some pics tomorrow, but it's probably not the best way to
attach a bumper. basically the angle iron on top is welded to the outer
rim of the fire wall. on both sides of the angle iron. the two rails in the
middle are re-bar welded to flat bar that runs under the engine and is
bolted to 2 brackets that are welded to the transmission support (horn).
If you choose this method, I recommend a water hose be nearby when you weld the brackets underneath. |

Okay sorry for the delay bugpack1, here is a pic of how I welded it on.
this is about 3 or 4 good passes with a stick welder (I don't have a mig)
it's welded on all sides and 2 more supports underneath the motor. I
also plan on putting an extra support on the sides for added strength.
Don't let the fact that you are welding to the body make you think that it
will be weak, the vw's body is its frame. I have jumped on this bumper
and it doesn't move at all, and I weigh about 325 on a good day.

Oh its way more tuff than a stock bumper. It can take a real thrashing.
The only problem I had was It had some vibration to it, but I solved
that problem today. I added some braces to it.
