| I'm in Puyallup. I'm still wiring, building doors, tuning a new engine, trying to figure out how to mount some turd EMPI headlights, and putting in glass. Oh, I still gotta put in my fuel tank too. |

| After starting the wiring I just figured out I got a late '71 standard with a 12 fuse block, and I got a '70 style column and ignition switch. The wiring harness I got is for a 10 fuse early '71. Good thing I've been in the wiring field for a few years. It's getting me through college. Anyone need a ten fuse block? |

| Just came across your build thread. Car looks good. What do your empi lights look like? My fenders have buckets molded into them so I just used stock buckets with H4 headlights in them. My friend and I just finished wiring my car up. It's a 72 so I think the systems should be very similar if not the same. I used the diagrams I found here on the samba to wire mine. They helped alot. I got a bentley manual first but the schematic were black and white so it wasn't very much help. We are practically neighbors too. I am just north of you in Milton. I just got my baja together a few months ago and have a few local friends with baja's also. Finish that sucker up and let's go get em dirty. |

| Ah! Just ran into an issue with the wiring. I hooked up all my stuff for the flasher, flasher relay, and turn switch. When I turn it on the flasher relay goes nuts. It's flashing so fast it sounds like a buzzer. I'm running LED tails and A pretty low wattage front bulb. I know if you have one light out you might get turbo blinker so I was thinking that possibly the lower current might be the cause. Any Ideas? |

Just thought I'd update the build. Got my ceramicoated TriMil, and I'm almost done with the wiring. I'll have more pics coming soon.

More pics of the wiring. I just got a little cleaning up to do.
opted for a lug rather than the spade ground terminals.
Couple of scores at the pull-a-part. The repro head light switch was super garbage so this was a find. Lots of the stuff I got at Wolfgang International was pretty crappy. 1st and last time I order from that place.
Still can't get my stupid "J" bend on my exhaust. Any body got a technique for that? I thought I might sand down the ceramic coating a bit, but I don't want it to rust if I take the coating off. I tried it with the tubes loose and also off. It's A bear. Not really sure what to do. |

I already tried that. I even tried it with the exhaust off the car. |

| I've had a lot of muscle and cussing but it still won't go on. I guess I might have to quit being a sissy and get serious with the thing. :P |

nice job cleaning up the wiring. could you please post some pics of the wiring close up?? I want to "clean up" my wiring. I was told it was a bad idea to zip tie the wires together due to the possible damage to other wires if you get a short. but you look at the wires of other car makers and you see the wires zip tied together. I just want to clean it up so it doesn't look like regergitated speghetti..
great build. |

| I've worked in the electronics field for years. Install and bench work. Most auto manufacturers have their wires wrapped tightly so I think it's ok. I just made sure everything was in line and kept all the sharp stuff out of the bundle. I could see that if you had unfused wires that you could caues a fire that would wipe out your electrical system, but if all is fused you should be ok. I'm in class right now but I could try to take some more pics later today. |

Nothing like doing things backwards.Pulled the motor to plumb the carbs. The friggin' motor wouldn't go back on either! Guess I shouldn't be doing motor installs on my own. It almost goes on, then it just stops. Well, guess I'll try again later. The jack stands are not actually touching, they're just there for safety.

Just a couple of new pics. Got my fuel supply done and got the TriMil on there. Not gonna lie, It didn't go on without a fight. Got the motor back on. It hard to put the motor on with the clutch cable hooked up. Just throwin' that out there. Feel like an idiot.

| Got back to it tonight and started it for the first time. 1st running engine in 13 years. I'm really excited right now that's why I'm spewing this all over the place. The paper work says it should be at 30 before TDC at 3000 rpm. and I gotta setup the carbs still. |

| Congrats on firing it up. The car looks pretty sweet. I am jealous of how clean your wiring is. I have been putting off finishing my wiring up for a while now. |
