All,
I'm looking into purchasing a clock grill for my oval but, I don't know how to tell if a grill is a reproduction or OG. Can someone please school me? |

Put up some pics of the one you are looking at, it helps.

I don't have one. I just wanted to know what to look for before I started looking.

Check the tabs............Repros usually are more 'square' with sharper corners. OG grills have rounded tabs, and the chrome is more dull than bright. (unless the OG grill has been re-plated )

I just restored a pair, One with an original grill and the other being a fake, When you put them next to each other you can clearly see the difference in shape and detail. Looking at an oval dash it has a bend to it and so does an original grill. The fake grills are flat as f%^k. Bummer tho cos the chrome shop lost two of the original screws that hold the adjusting knob on!!!

Both sets look like they have square tabs :? Every OG grill I've owned had rounded tabs on the top and bottom and square tabs on the side......Sorry I didn't make that clearer in my first post. Also, they had pre-56 stamped clocks with them........which might explain the difference. (good observation on the curve)

It came with the clock as a whole, looks to well done to be home made and I never seen one like it EVER. (Thinking of having some made)
