| Is it normal for a 72 bug to take awhile to heat up when its about 60 outside? |

| If the thermostat and flaps are missing (which seems to be the case on most air-cooled VWs these days), it takes about 10 minutes to warm up. Mine does not have the flaps, and that's about how long it takes to warm up. |

When I rebuilt my engine recently, I bought (from the classifieds) the thermostat and flaps and installed them. The engine warms up so much faster, even with the no choke Weber ICT carbs. |

| Although it prevents slight wear while warming up, remember, these bugs were sold in south america, and the alps and such, you dont have to worry about your bug running too cool. |

Yes. Especially if you don't have the stock thermostat/rod/flaps hooked up. |

At least you guys in the south get to drive your beetles all year round,I have to put mine away for the winter,by the way it's about 39-40 here,
