I picking up a 72 Beetle tomorrow & plan on towing it home.
Will the VW tow bar work with the front sway bar in place??
I looked at it today & it looks like a tight fit for the tow bar.
It looks like it is just about all Stock except for the Carb.
It has a PROGRESSIVE 2-BARREL carb not sure which one.
Another question can the back side windows be converted to the pop-out type??
Thanks for any help.

I rented a small two wheel towing apparatus from U-haul towed my bug behind my gmc pickup and it worked great. Sorry it's not quite the same thing as what you're doing. Words of encouragement.

you do not have to take off the sway bar. yes it is a tight fit, it's supposed to be. you have to give a little tappy to get the towbar to fit around the beam, but not a very hard tappy. make sure you unlock the steering wheel. yes the windows can be converted. and don't backup the bug with the tow bar.

Make sure you unlock your steering wheel, make sure the emergency brake is off, and put the car in neutral. Trust me. Otherwise you end up destroying a perfectly good tow bar...

I have a few pics of the 72 Standard Beetle we picked-up on Oct 22, 2008 on my web site at the below link.
Towed it home with a VW tow bar with no problem.
Thanks to all that replied to my post.
I will have more questions.
Not sure I will be keeping the rims that are on it now.
