The PO of my 61 bug knew diddly squat about this car. So I have had to figure this thing out as I go. The rims look to be off a 356 but I cant find any markings on the rims to learn anything about them. They are quite rusty so maybe it has been covered in rust.
When I flipped the rim over the center is welded to the outer ring. It is only welded in four spots. Is this normal? Would it be beneficial to weld up the whole ring?

Judging by the shape of the slots I would say that is a Porsche rim, look at the spaces in between the bolt holes for any markings (Lemmerz, KPR, or a date stamp). The four welds on the back is normal.

| Never found any markings. Finaly made it to the local shop to have the spare tire remvoed and found the Made in brazil stamp under the tire. So after reading these would be mangels? Are they worth trying to find a shop to clean them up and re-chrome? Or to much work, just buy new ones? |
