I could go on and on about my plans, but I think the best and most entertaining thing for everyone would be pictures:

Suffice to say, by the time I'm done with it (HAH!...done...) very few stones will have been left unturned...though it will remain a 4 seater

Looks good. Is that a kit or are you building it all?

don't most people use heims on the inside as well?

seabuggy: I'm having the a-arms built. I didn't want to have it sit in my garage for a year while I figure everything out, so I found someone to do it for a good price.

Hamburger: Some do, some don't. dunebuggy.com does so I feel safe:

I saw that Pete also uses them on his kits (www.a-arm.com). I guess with the heims at the spindles you can get your camber alignment there. Either way, nice work so far.

wow first post in like 2 years! glad to see its still getting done!

keep us updated!

You got yourself a great build ahead of you! Did you get those spindles from kustom1?

WisdomRacing Fri Oct 24, 2008 1:49 pm

Hamburger - Thanks! I figure if I ever wanted to I could just convert to heims anyway.

MattD - Yeah I never really got a project off the ground to report about until now. Hopefully this one won't slow down too much. By the way, are you the same "MattD" from RDC?

bug1965 - Yep! Before I bought the spindles, I also bought a full long travel setup (10" wider beam, 4" longer arms, thru rods, etc) from Stuart as well...I was initially just going to push the beam forward, but when I found this fabricator he told me he'd be able to do the a-arms for not much more, so I sold the beam, arms, etc. He does good work, and the tig welds on the spindles are nice.

Shawng - PM sent!

Update! I had to get a different rack and pinion due to clearance issues so I've got a Saco Rack and Pinion for sale.

There's a lot of reinforcing still to come as well as finishing up the shock towers, but the general idea is complete.

BTW, the vertical distance between the inner and outer a-arm pivots is slightly misrepresented in the pics due to angles and because the lower arm is bent.

Very nice work those arms are huge

runslikeapenguin Mon Nov 03, 2008 11:49 pm

its coming together great, but a quick question, what are you plans for the rear? this things going to look a little odd until the rear track is closer to the front :)

Thanks! I agree that the builder is doing a great job. I'm eager to bring it home so I can put it under my own knife :)

I agree, very odd :?

I'm going with either 5x5 or 6x6 arms in the rear depending on how wide the front ends up. I'm hoping 5x5s will be sufficient since I've already got proper length axles for them. That'll bring the wheelbase to an even 110.

Shocks mounted! 10" Shock = 25" of travel! I hope steering doesn't limit it!!

what is the distance between where the arms meet the chassis and the spindle, vertical measurement?? from bolt to bolt? and the length of the actual arms?
