| Hi I need to know if the stock valve retainers and stock keepers are ok to use with Bugpack single hi-rev springs with Engle 110 cam? Or does anyone make a kit that includes 8 stock valves, single hi-rev springs, and hardened keepers and retainers? or are they best to be bought separately? thanks |

The stock one are fine..
Best to trim the keepers (grind) so that the keepers do not touch went installed on the valve, This prevents the end of the valve and groves from wearing. |

| Art when you say do not touch you mean make sure the keepers do not touch each other by how how much? just a hair? thanks |

Huh? I thought the valve was supposed to spin inside the keepers.

What he means is that if the keepers are butted together, there is a strong possibility they're not clamped tightly against the valve.
Instead, they're clamped against each other.
This allows some "slop" between the keepers and keeper grooves in the valves thus producing some serious wear on the valve grooves.
Trust me, single hi-revs and stock retainers will be fine.
I have them in my turbo 1600 and they've performed flawlessly up to 20PSI boost! MUUUAAHAHA! |

| So, is it more important for the valve to rotate, or the keepers to bite into the valve grooves? I don't think you can get both. |

You're right-you can't have both.
Is valve rotation critical? Good question.
From personal experience, I've NEVER allowed retainers butt each other in a performance motor for fear of pulverizing the retainer grooves and, worse case scenario, drop a valve due to keeper/groove/retainer failure.
In a stocker? It isn't so critical due to the lack of abuse. |

The keepers must grab the valve stem, just as Art said.
You just need a small gap between the two keeper faces, grinding a small amount off one keeper half will get the job done.
There is plenty of valve rotation created from spring wrap. |
