View original topic: How to set a Holley regulator

Hi,
I'm using a holley red pump and it's 1-4 psi regulator. I'd like to set the regulator to 3.5psi in conjunction with the use of 45 DRLA's.

The car is in it's final phase of rebuild as well as the engine and so the regulator which is brand new.

Therefore I have no clue at how many psi a 1-4 psi type regulator is set at when coming out of the box.

Is there a way of setting the regulator at approx. 3.5 psi by counting the screw's turns in or out ??

Thanks in advance

Phil

Well, the obvious way would be to use a cheap manometer, but there may be a better/easier way

I dont think that it is posible to accurately set the pressure by a certain number of turns. I always use a gauge that reads very low PSI. I have one that reads 0-15 PSI and put it on and set the pressure with the engine idling and whatever pressure you need. When you are done than leave the gauge on or remove it. I dont remember which holley regulator I have but it has two outlet ports so I have one with the gauge and one feeding the carbs. Works great.

I would agree, you should use a low pressure gauge to connect in-line to determine the pressure.
