Backed out of a parking space and was ready to go forward when I met up with this 2009 Toyota that rear-ended me driven by a text messaging fool. So far it looks like all I need is an exhaust, fan belt and put the valve cover back on. Toyota, no so lucky. That dark spot under his bumper is trans fluid. Looks like it bled to death. He told me he just bought it in Aug. My bumper is made of 1 1/4" ridgid conduit. :)

Lucky he hit you.

My neighbor ran into the back of a SUV that was raised and had a rear brush guard... sounds like a open and shut case. His insurance company sued the owner of the SUV complaining that because his vehicle was modified and didn't have the normal 5 mph impact bumpers there was much more damage than if he had them.

So instead of his insurance company paying 100%.. .they paid only 50% and the owner of the truck paid the other 50%.

Lawyers... can't kill them (it's illegal) so you gotta love them.

Judging by the plate frame, it looks like this pan is a 69, thus is probably exempt from dumb laws like that.

I'm amazed that conduit is that strong.

These thread makes me wanna go ahead with my plan of cutting out all the crumble-zones in my Volvo 940, remove the bumpers, bend 2" solid axle steel into the shape of the bumpers, weld them to the frame and modify the bumpers so they fit over the steel bars and go left-hit (here in Finland cars that pull up to an intersection have to look out for cars that come from the right. If you hit someone that comes from the right, your fault. Left-hitting is when you collide with someone that comes from the left, deliberately or not. Guess how many people in my town cares about this rule (which is probably the most fundamental law in the Finnish traffic system) someone. And this being Finland, no-one would ever come up with the idea of dragging lawyers into the mess.

Is it definitely ATF? Toyotas use red coolant too... although it isn't *that* red.

His insurance company will love him, $300 for you, thousands for his... :D

If it broke the fan belt, check the oil cooler. It may have tweaked the fan housing enough to get it.

Hows your back and neck? You might want to go see a doctor!

One of my guys rolled into the back of a Nissan while driving one of our 944's. Didn't even bend the license plate. But the adult occupants of the Nissan, who were both wearing seat belts, got carted away in an ambulance and were awarded $15,000 for personal injury damages.

All of this while their 3 year old kid was standing up in the back seat looking out the rear window.

The lawyer for our insurance company said this was the 8th case these people had collected on. But that couldn't be brought up in court.

Yep, that Toyota is going to be an expensive fix!

Check the heads for cracks and the jugs for leaks.
