| i am wanting to sell my 1600cc dp engie but not sure what its wort... it is complete just unbolted right off the tranny... pressure plate, clutch, carb, exhaust, everything. it was running a year ago when i pulled it so i know its not blown but i dont know what a complete turnkey 1600dp is worth. ANY IDEAS? also when i take the valve cover off i was told to look for a number on the head... it says 88 does that mean it is a 1600 or bigger? thanks for any help! |

The 88 is just a mold number - not any special meaning. Any number with meaning on the head will be a 9-digit number, likely followed by a letter or two. And that won't even tell you if it's been reworked for larger cylinders.
The worth of it ? depends on the compression, if there's endplay from pounded thrust bearings, and how complete it really is. I'd say 400-800, depending on condition and who's buying it. You can see what other people are asking by searching the Classifieds for "1600 turn key" and seeing if any of the results that come up are similar to yours.
