Last night I got the bracket made for the throttle and hooked up, ingnition timed, fuel pump and fuel to the carbs and FIRED IT UP. It was good to hear it running. All thats left is exhaust, install the rebuilt rear prakes, and lots of small pita stuff.

Managed to get all the little bits and pieces finished off today, so whilst waiting for the paint on the new wheels to dry (1" taller, 2 inches wider, much better tyres), we too it out on the old wheels just to make sure everything was bedded in and working fine:

I took of the throttle arm on my solex 34-pict 3, cleaned it put a little permatex on it, and reinstlled it. I had a bad vacuum leak around it, now its running great. I also took the jack and tire tool combo holder out of a wrecked Buick and mounted it in my trunk. It makes a nifty little tool holder. Then I took it out in the woods and climbed a few hills.

listened to the valves on my grandpas manx to see what ones needed to be adjusted
then he reved it up and it shot a 2 foot flame past me!  haha

On my buddy's baja, we installed the rebuilt pedal assembly, bled the brakes, wire up the new voltage regulator, mounted the hood with hinges and hold downs, installed a windshield wiper fluid bottle, and mounted 2 cooper 235-75/r15's. It was a long day.

Sanded on my sand rail all day Saturday prepping for paint

That is one of the most boring and tedious jobs in the world. i feel your pain. I've been re-doing an old KX125. Igave up and went with paint stripper and glass bead. I haven't touched the Baja in a few weeks, other then using it to pull my other derelict projects around the yard.

Dude my fingers are so sore. Thumbs bleeding too. I am glad that is done. Time to move on to the next part to get paint.

Awesome buggy build! I just checked out your build page, great work...

Swapped out the 009 with a vacuum advance distributor, actually did that yesterday but got it running with the other dizzy today. :)

I installed some wicked sweet reverse lights so I can see when I backing up on the trails. I got some real tight spots behind the house.

I "borrowed" the headlight bulbs out of the wrecked buick we have and put them in the driving light lenses because they needed a little boost in the wattage area.

Started to adjust the valves, and install new plugs. :) Yesterday installed bumper and hooked up lights.

Got some used rims awhile back. Finally got em' cleaned up, picked up a couple of cans of silver Rust-O-Leum and painted them. Will be changing out the rims and tires on my rail in the next couple of days. The rail has some wide 14inchers on the front and wide 15inchers with sand tires on the rear. Changing to Nanco 7.00X15's on the front and Definity Dakota M/T 31X10.50 15's on the rear for some Arizona desert backroad driving.

I got the new engine running today, just after I regretfully grabbed on to a spark plug that was charged by the MSD... Had the plug out and laying on the manifold checking for spark, forgot to disconnect power before trying to install plug... arm is still a little numb...

Sold my tube bender, dies, and notcher since I was done with them. Using those funds for my deposit on a new engine from Art @ ACE.
