Carnage is good but let's see the big Air.

ZARJDR Sun Mar 28, 2010 7:43 pm

Sorry 'bout that, can't drive and take pics at the same time. The wife is always down to go out, but she sits in the motorhome while me and the youngsters play! Will shoot some action shots of my son or a friend next time I go out, but...... I now know "Big" air is off limits til the IRS and new stops and shocks on the front!!!!!

WOW! Did it hurt when you landed or the the rail take all of the punishment? Nice rebuild though...

I mounted a CB antenna (with flag) and rewired the front end. I'm almost ready to get it back on the road!! Pics soon (really)

ZARJDR Mon Mar 29, 2010 11:09 am

I did it about 500 yds from the motorhome, came down a little hard, parked it and was walkin away when a friend on a quad pulled up with some of the pieces in his lap. I had no idea that it had bottomed that hard. Truth is that iy has soaked up a lot of hard driving without any real indication of bottoming etc. Just took it a little too far I guess LOL

Took the car for a swim on Saturday, pulled the carpet Sunday

^^ Now that's funny!

Took my baby on a long cruise with my VW club.

Yeah, I know... Urban Assault Vehicle. She goes off road a lot. As you can see, I was the only Baja. I WIN!

Luckily (lol) there was a couple of small holes under the battery tray where the water drained, the other side we were using a coffee cup and bdu cap got the water out then we just drove with the water in the car kept our feet cool.

Will post some pics of the stripped interior

lots of sanding and primer. Also sand blasted the firewall and primed it.

are you not sealed up very well? i had a baja that i sealed it real good and sat in water half way up my doors for 1/2 hour or more and only had one or two inches in the car.

bajapunk70 Tue Mar 30, 2010 7:26 pm

mine leaks because my doors dont fit properly after i wrecked it (thats why its a baja) that and the swiss cheese i call a floor pan lol. after i took the carpet out of my car i never put it back in. its a bit colder but i dont have carpet to ruin 8) i was just gonna rhino line it after i fix the holes.

Anyways.... today i rewired my headlamps because they kept going out and i kept getting pulled over. got rid a stupid plastic connector that was in the housing and just used the connectors that attach to the spades directly on the back of the light. only problem is that one light is hooked up backwards. so one is dim and the other is bright, and when i hit the brights it just switches them back in forth. gets people the hell out of my way when i flick them really fast

i put a couple of holes in my pans to drain water when powerwashing and swimming trips. i used shower drain covers to cover the holes.

This is what I did was to go do some mountain climbing up in Idaho's mountains near Pinehurst ID.

Nicksan Wed Mar 31, 2010 5:03 pm

I got the top end of the engine reinstalled, Fan shroud, Carb, Coil, etc... Got the exaust back together, Adjusted the valves, and got several little things done. Added oil and started it up. I still need to set the timing and adjust the carb. :D

baja5 Wed Mar 31, 2010 5:04 pm

I drove mine to pick up my son at school. 1st time it's been driven since before I had shoulder surgery 5 weeks ago.

What happend to your shoulder?

baja5 Wed Mar 31, 2010 5:36 pm

Freyed tendon, a little bone damage and partial tear of one of the rotator muscles. I didn't think the recovery would be this hard but therapy is killing me.
