I just called up John at Aircooled.net and ordered up a set of Weber 44's for my 1904. I'm hoping that combo will be a noticeable difference over my 1600/Progressive...

So when are you going to add cage structure to support the outer ends of the beam where the bumper mounts? One little bump...and it's all over.. :(
Not saying "You HAVE TO!" ...just suggesting.

Oh I will. I need to get the cage put in first. Depending on how I'm feeling and if I can muster up a spare set of hands, I'll start on that tomorrow. |

I welded a O2 sensor bung in the collector of my header so I can hook up a A/F gauge to help with tuning so I can get it passed smog, does that count.

| Actually, when tuned right and with the right disti, it has run fine. I just don't think it's gonna have enough oomph for the new motor. And, while shelling out almost $1k for carbs was not really in the budget, I figured I've spent all this $$ on the new motor, might as well let it breathe... |

This is from last weekend:
Today, I removed the "added drop sump" that I nearly ripped off the car at the maiden trip of my new 2110. I learned something that day:
"Don't run an extra sump on a baja."
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the video!!! |

I've shown this pic several times now, but note the lights by the windshield. They do fine there and light things up well, but they are too close to the driver's line of sight, and the shadows are eliminated. So the ground looks smooth as a model's skin. You can't tell there are 3' high whoops right in front of you. Cowl mounted lights have the same problem.
So I say mount broad beam lights down on the front bumper whixh will generate enough shadows to show the texture of the ground, and pencil beam lights up high on the roof and aimed out into the distance to see what is way ahead. Roof mounted lights are more subject to rocks and tree branches though. |

| On my own Baja, I reamed the steering arms on the spindles for Ford 3/4 ton tie rod ends. I have the brakes and spindles apart to paint the backing plates and replace the bushings. New wheel cylinders and shoes will go on the brakes. I have those. Wheel studs are on the list too, but I don't have enough on hand to go around. Cash is tight right now, so hopefully I can scrounge up enough recyclables or something to pay for the rest. |

| Pulled the tranny, put in a new hockey stick and seal, re-installed it and reconnected the shift coupler yesterday. Today I put the second pair of shocks on the back, and now I'm waiting on the motor. Hopefully tomorrow! |

Installed engine the other night, working on installing the air cleaner and fuel tank. Sealed some gaps between the body lift and body.
Ordered wiring kit, and working on ordering switches right now |
