Will the bus trans mounted in a bug raise your engine a inch?
Is it also true that the shift is very sloppy just like a orginal bus even with the upgrade of the berg 5?

| As for the Rancho/Berg I have no idea but I think it would be like a race set up since the original Berg intermediate shaft kit fixed the problem on a four speed. The Beetle shifter and shifter coupler makes a stock Bus IRS much better but it is no drag race transaxle. It does raise the rear of the transaxle up tilting the engine. You would have to install a u joint in the shift rod assemble or inmstall the shifter on top of the tunnel to keep the engine in its stock location. |

| My experience with the Berg bus box in a bug conversion was that the engine height did not change BUT the motor moved over to the right side of the car approx. 1/2". This was not a 5 speed. wayne |
