Just had to tell someone.......... Three weeks ago I tried out the new 2276 I built over the summer. CB Wedgeports, Web 86c cam, 12.5 to one compression in an 1800 lb super...... that was the very first time reaching the 12s, 12.99 actually at 101 mph. I'm running 48 Dells with tall velosity stacks. It felt like it was nosing over at the top end.
Somehow managed to suck a hose clamp down one of the carbs and caused some head damage, and a little damage to one of the pistons. Pulled the engine Wed and cleaned up the head, put it back together and went to the track Sat night. I had put the short velosity stacks and air cleaners back on this time. First run was 12.5 @ 104 mph. Second was 12.4 @ 105....... Third run I spun the slicks on the line and hit 13.2 @ 105 mph. The fourth and last run, still no traction but ran a 12.99 @ 106, changing my shift points slightly.
I'm wondering if the tall stacks actually hurt performance. This is really addicting. |

| The advertisement suggested more HP, better performance. I should have known not to trust ads. |
