Witch intake is better for a single 44 idf ? the cheap looking chrome steel one or the aluminum one ? and what are the pros and cons of each (duals arnt an option rules say no)

44IDF with 36mm venturies might be too big for a lot of low RPM. You may need to go down to 32-34 in venturie size and I would probably try the cheap chrome isolated runner intake. I hope you are not running larger then a 1 1/2" exhaust.

no it has 1.5 tri-mill, and it does have 36 vents. I might try them and if I dont like it I can change them. I also have the chrome intake I just wanted other opions before I start fabing the header for the intake heat

The CB one, or the chrome one that has individual runners will work well. Some of the cast style ones have a hole connecting each intake runner in the middle, and sometimes makes the carb a PITA to get working well. Empi's 43-5208 Cast manifold has been modified to no longer have the connecting hole, so it would work well also.

what would be a good baseline, jetting to get me started if I use 34 vents

Just raaazin you...

steel would allow more heat transfer - depending on where you want to use this (desert, iceland, etc)

If they are the same shape and length, i'd probably go for the aluminum one for weight and less heat transfer.
