You cant possibly hope to get a concise answer for such an ambiguous question.
One guy might answer, the stock 1200 I have in my bug gets great mileage and keeps me happy.
next guy, my 2.4 turbo engine got me into the 9's at the drag strip.
There isnt one magic engine size, the correct combo of parts can make any cc engine volumetrically efficient and therefore make good hp and tq in relation to its size.
Any naturally aspirated engine making 100hp per 1000cc is doing very well.
If you say what vehicle you have, how you want it to drive and a budget, people can tell you a good combo for your application. |

| yeah this isnt a very good post.. but id like to say my 1.9L works out pretty well, decently quick, very good mileage. orange county to vegas in 3/4 of a tank. very nice street motor and reliable. but im sure a bigger motor could do the same, and possibly bigger... |
