I don't look at the early Forum much but spotted this in passing... Main group Zero? Hmm. 5 holes, I wonder if it's a attachment plate for an accessory fuel gauge sending unit? Does it, by chance, match the pattern shown here?

| I think it is a sender collar/escutcheon/gasket. You can see how you would need the cutout in the ring if the float would not fit through the hole and you could not take it off. |

A zero in the main group part number refers to an accessory.
For example:
113 035 255A is a suppressed spark plug connector (it was used to suppress engine modulation on early automotive radios.
The same identical part was numbered 028 905 449 when used on an M63 Military Thing) it had a "9" in the main group denoting (electrical equipment)
On the military vehicle it was a standard part (used to facilitate better radio reception on military vehicles) while on a commercially sold Thing it was an accessory add-on part available from the dealer. hence the "0" in the main group part number. |
