my '72 ghia was on my mustang dyno yesterday, and i got a whopping 53.8 hp and 80ftlbs of torque from my 1600dp with dual kads, header, 1.25 rockers, stock cams and heads and c/r, 034 dizzy.
the real problem was that my AFR was in the low 12s high 11s , very rich
my 40kads have 145 mains, and 50 idle jets, any ideas how far down i need to go? i live at sea level BTW. i just want to avoid buying $60 of jets when i could get closer right off. thanks -wolff |

28mm vents? if so 145 is waay fat on a 1600cc.
I have a stock 1600cc with 1.5" Berg, 009, Dual Kads 28mm vents - I started with a 120 main, then 125 and finally ended up with a 130 main. 125 was close, 130 was betterl, I'd like to try some 127.5..
For your's I'd start with a 130. |

| Yeah, 130s will probably get you there. The 50 idles are probably good. |

I'm in So Cal and it's still a bit warm but in the morning with temps in the 60's my jetting is perfect ...
Once the So Cal winter sets in, which is mild, it'll be great...
On my daily driven 1776 with 110 cam, 009 with module (40 miles per day) my setup is, 58 idles, 142 mains ,30 mm cnc'd vents and no balance tube.
I have some 65 idles that work well,(a bit rich) , that I've experimented with and when January and February set in, I'll run those with some 32mm vents and 145 mains...
with my 1700 lb kennedy, I can get the front wheels off the ground, no problem and do alot of freeway driving at 70+..
I've sat with A.J and he seems like a nice guy but he's also a salesman. On the other hand, Rick always offers great advice that I adhere to more and I'd listen to him... 8)
I don't think I'd lean the idles too much in your zone, check for any vaccum leaks and I'd back down on the mains as Rick says. Read your plugs and see what they say..... 8)
Here's my motor with dual Kads

| My old 1600 stocker w/ Kadrons ran 130 or 135 mains, 55 idles, 009, 1 3/8 S&S header, stock heads w/ 1.5 Sig Erson rockers. Got me through high school and college no problems. |

From the beginning, set your float level and verify fuel pressure, set valve lash, and set timing.
Then see how your AFR stacks up. |

you have no idea how many days I've spent on the phone because of some previous hack (masquerading as a "mechanic") with a drillbit.

to compound things, they don't even drill them properly!
I recommend that you chuck the jet and hold the drill bit in your fingers. It finds center much better and make a nice straight hole.

Kadron's should have no more than 2psi at max. Shoot for 1.5 lbs.... |

Kadrons can handle as much psi as their needle and seats can....
I run 4, everyday, all day 40 miles per day.....
Float Bowl levels are always perfect...
John is right. Solex/Kadron jets have to be checked properly...
You can't just assume the jet is what it is until you check it... |

I recommend NEVER EVER drilling fuel jets. You can get away with it on airs, but do not do it for fuel.
Buy new jets so you know what you have.

after a dozen pulls sorting out a frantic wideband o2 im now idling with a 11:1 -11.8:1 Afr and 11.7 at WOT.
played with the timing and found 3 more hp and 5 more tq with 32' total over 30'
going to try 40 idles and 115 mains next, ill try to get some of the dyno graphs uploaded too |

| Something is not right.. you have some fuel control problems or something. Those jets are too small. |
