Maybe I should post this in any headliner topic, but I guess this is too especific.
According to the Birth Certificate, my car is a Sedan Deluxe from 03-57 and the exterior color is L 324 + M 104 for upholstery.
Yesterday I emailed Himmelservice.de asking for the right color & material of headliner that belongs to the code M 104 (Leatherette Red).
Today, Marc Cornelius from Mit himmlischen Grüßen wrote that normally these cars needs a headliner in brushed cotton color "lightgreen" H 121. As this color is unavailable, the compromise is color H 120 "lightbeige", like the colour of the carpet ( "honeybrown" 026 ).

I checked http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/paintcodestype1.php
and for L324, the upholstery - cloth belongs to "53 light grey"... anyway, there`s no info about the material.

Does anybody have any experience/knowledge about stock color/material? Where can I check the info? Thanks!

There was a recent discussion here about headliners.

Also, according to my documentation, there was light beige leatherette as well the red leatherette.

I have the same problem (Polar silver 57 ragtop with red leatherette)
Expert in Europe : Himmelservice => Does not have the red leatherette nor the correct headliner, ...
Expert in US : Lenny Copp from WCCR => does have the leatherette interior, but not the correct color for the headliner.
I finally went with Lenny and just got a letter from the Belgium customs this morning. My interior (seatcovers, doorpanels, headliner, carpets and ragtop cover) will be at my doorstep on monday ...

 can't wait to see it !!!!

If it was my choice i would go with the beige headliner. I just can't see a black car, with red upholstery, have a GREEN headliner. :?

This is the attach I received by email from Himmelservice, it`s light beige:

I think is a good option for leatherette red, but... what about lightgreen? I can´t imagine my car with a light green headliner. Does anybody have pics? Anyway, Fastfreddy272... I`d like to see your interior next week!! ThanXs for the replies, guys!!!

Unless maybe it was used as a ride at Santa's Village or something like that.

On Monday or Tuesday I'll post some pictures of the new WCCR interior.
I believe I have some small parts from the original headliner. I'll post some pictures of that too.

I looked up the color charts in Garwood (not always a 100 percent accurate source) and he states the correct headliner for a L324 '57 oval is H120 light beige, regardless of the seat and door panel color.

What does Garwood say for a '56 L324 car?

Before 3 April 1956: H109 Gray
From 3 April 1956 (ch no. 1149147): H120 Light Beige

I think you will have to make a note in the Garwood book as an error.

I have these VW color chips and other VW documents that agree with the info on the chips.

Also, I am not 100% certain on the earlier Polar Silver, but from April 1956 your wheels should be L87 Pearl White and L328 Steel Grey.
L328 Steel Grey is very similar to Polar Silver, but not exactly the same, as can be seen in this pic. On the left is Polar Silver and on the right is Steel Grey.

Wow, that's some pretty solid data right there. 8)

For the 4/56+ page, that lists the interior treatments for Polar Silver as being with light gray upholstery, presumably cloth based on http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/paintcodestype1.php . Are the interior treatments the same with light beige or red leatherette (vinyl) upholstery? My 1/57 Polar Silver left VW with light beige vinyl. I have the seats but that's all that's left of the original interior, it's gutted otherwise. To further complicate matters, I'm thinking of changing to red seat but keeping the original light beige ones in case I want to go back to its birth configuration someday. Hopefully those aren't different for each as well. Help!!!

The only other difference if you had the light beige leatherette, was Ks11 light beige arm rests.

And I presume this means the red leatherette is the same as shown in your booklet. Sweet, I don't mind laying in just an extra set of arm rests. Now the trick becomes finding all the correct color/style parts, like... umm... ObSubject - the headliner! :?

Thanks for the great info!

IN2VWS Fri Oct 31, 2008 6:16 am

If you do go for the red leatherette, you will need k168 red leatherette for the seats, Kö28 light brown seat beading, and Ks12 red armrest.

 what a material!! are these pics from your Happich books? from I tought there was only one L324...
As far I can see, it seems to the H121 light green is the most used in Polar Silver. Marc from Himmelservice said that too.
The second pic -from 04-56- refers to P129 light gray upholstery, so it would be interesting to know whether it is exclusive of thtat upholstery or it matched with other ones.

IN2VWS Fri Oct 31, 2008 6:23 am

P129 was also used on L41 Black Deluxe Sedans.

No, this info is not from the Happich books, it is from Volkswagen Dealer books.

Amazing!!!

Here´s a small strip of upholstery I found (very deep) behind dome light. As far the info posted, I assume this is not original. It has some kind of pattern Anyway, the color seems to be light beige:

Did you see it in any other bugs?
