Just a word of precaution to pet owners out there. BE CAREFUL with over the counter flea products! I used Sergeant's Gold on my 2 pugs last night. My older one is fine, but my 2 year old had all sorts of problems. She was spasming, rolling around trying to scratch the spot and very out of it all night, a scary thing for sure.

She seems ok today, a little goofy still, but I think she'll be fine. I looked it up online and this particular product has a nasty habit of causing the problems she had and more.

So ask your vet, don't use these over the counter products unless you're sure it'll be ok for them!

The bitch is she didn't have fleas, I was just being careful because she spent the past weekend in the woods and a flea was found on a friend's dog.

Good to know. Thanks for the tip, Rob.

Haartz is also bad stuff. A friend of mine used it on her cat and the cat went into convulsions and seizures afterward.

Look at using Frontline, Rob. It costs more but it will kill the fleas within hours. Also, Zodiac flea collars are effective against fleas and ticks and are waterproof. My dogs wore Zodiac flea collars and the tick problem went away, which is a miracle considering Oklahoma is crawling with them.

rob did you give pepper a bath to wash that stuff off of him/her?

I use Frontline/Advantage as well.

We've given our dogs Brewer's Yeast with Garlic tablets every night for years. They love 'em and no fleas. Available in the pet section of your favourite "Mart"... Wal-, K-, whatever.

Of course, baths help too...

I remember my mom doing that with our dog when I was younger. Seemed to work IIRC. Must be a trick the old folks know.

Yeah, as soon as I saw she was having trouble. Also rubbed on/off some baking soda to try and absorb it. That seemed to help some.

I had found a lost dog a few years ago and she stayed with me for a couple of days. She had fleas, my vet gave me pills for all of them and it worked like a charm. I'm sticking with that for now on.

We don't use chemicals or medications. We just play glam rock around the dog. No fleas or ticks. In fact, after we take her on hikes in flea country, we just have her stand outside the house and play "Unkskinny Bop" or "Slide it In" and the ticks just hop right off in the opposite direction of the music. Don't ask me why, but it works.

i once confused the bottle of flea drop with my vial of liquid LSD. one drop on a 22 lb pug and she was ready for some glamrock. i found her 3 days later in the back of one of my buses right after she got started with redecorating.

So I just got home from work (and a damn 2 hour dr visit....sheesh). Pepper looks almost normal, but now the older one seems a little wacky. No where near as bad as the pup and I'm not 100% sure because the older one always walked a little perquacky. Fuck it, she got a bath too and seems to be ok.

Well, at least I have 2 clean pugs for a change :-)

Active as always.

My wife gets those for the foster dogs we take care of. 30 minutes is all it takes before they literally fall off.

We have used Frontline for years, the past few months it has not seamed to work, maybe the South Carlina Fleas are getting immune to it?

Maybe we can try Trams recipe of Brewer's Yeast and Garlic.

We've been using Advantix for years. Never had any problems.
