Can anyone tell me the best way to remove the hinge cover on my 54 door?

On mine once the lead trim had been careully removed the covers were loose
looks like your trim isn't on there so are they just stuck on with years of crap and gunge? |

I have removed the trim for the paint prep but now I know they should just pull off I can give it a little more force.

Original ones only came on early convertibles. These were made of steel. What's missing in the photo is the small retainer clip which is made of solid round piping.
There is a guy in New jersey reproducing them but they fail in comparison to originals. The aftermarket ones are installed using dbl sided tape. |
