Will this combination work on a 72 stock super beetle? I have purchased the wheels and now need tires. Will they be too wide? Also any pictures of this setup would be appreciated. Any other tire suggestions would also be appreciated.

You could prolly run 195's like I've seen on squarebacks since the offset on Riviera's is sweet!

I have 215/65/15 in back and 195/60/15 on my Riveras on my bug & no rubbing.

Super is wider track on the front though ... will it still clear with stock fenders and the aftermarket wheels? What is the offset of the Riviera wheels? I think I saw someone mention on SBO that 185/60R15 is a better fit for the front of a lowered Super.

That's what I run on the front of my '72 Super with OG Rivieras. It's lowered 4" in the front only. It does rub on the right front in a hard left turn. The fender is slightly tweaked from damage at some point in it's life.

This information all depends on if the Riviera's are the Eagle Alloy's or the OG 914 style. The offsets are different. The Eagle alloy version will rub with a 165 and the OG 914's will clear the 195,205 and 215 tires. Post some pictures of the rims if you can.

Until this evening when I get home, these are the only pics I have handy.

I just want a tire that is going to look good with these wheels on my stock 72 super beetle. I appreciate you all responding to my thread.

These are the 914 rivieras that are advertised on the samba. Notice the outer lip differences.

It looks like you have the Eagle alloy style wheels thay set out and you might have a rubbing issue in the front if you lower the car or run a tall tire.
I ran the Eagle alloy 2.0 fuchs alloys and 195/60/15 with lowered struts from Top line on my 73 super beetle with no rubbing problems. Thay also offset more to the inside.

Thanks for the reply. What would you suggest I run on these wheels , I dont want the tire to stick out or rub. I just want something that is going to look good and somewhat fill the fender wells.

Locally I can get a Federal 165/80/15, how would that look/work?
Or would guys go with something different, like a 185/65/15. Sorry for all the questions, I just do not want to make a huge money mistake and purchase something that will not work.

Your Tire Dealer will mount up one 165 & one 185 to bolt on and check for clearance before you buy them!

I am going to take the rims to be fitted with tires, the car is being worked on, so I cant drive it there so that wont work. Does anyone have any idea what tire I can run safely with these rims with no rubbing issues.
