Ok so Im in the middle of a pan swap and I just found out my Wheels may not work
ive got 15x7 porsche cookies cutters, these wheels have a 5 inch backspace and a 2 inch frontspace (whatever the opposite of backspace is anyways).
these came off a swing axle beetle (short axle I beleive) and now on the IRS pan they seem to have kicked out a good inch on each side.
if I were to buy narrower tires, say a 165, do you think this would be enough to be able to run these wheels? or am I gunna have to buy another set of 6s (they have an inch less frontspace)
or should these fit? what is the maximum frontspace you could run on an IRS
oh and it has rear disk brakes (I dont think they kick the wheels out but I may be wrong) and its a 62 so it has the early fender |

Why would you want to run a 165 on a 7" wheel?
You might get away with a 195/65 tire, but it will be close to the fender. You will have to roll the inner lip a bit more.
Best is to put 6s on. They will fit no problem. |

OK I just calculated the frontspace of wheels compared to stock, the calculator says my offset/tire combo will result in the outside of the wheel being 1 inch further to the outside so...
A call to all of you with lowered IRS suspensions and stock rims (34 offset and 165 tires), how much room do you have between the outside of the tire and the fender? Also anyone with nonstock rims could you tell me how much extra room you have (in addition to your offset and tire width)
Thanks |
