Is the canceling ring Thing specific? TTS part seems to be on the high side. $43 is about twice the cost for the KG or Bug canceling rings that I've found on other sites.

The first 3 digits in the part number indicate which model this part first appeared on.

Part Number: 113415660a

113 is the bug body, so nope, not a Thing-specific part.

I may have one floating in my spare parts bin if you want it. You may have to come out to NAG next week to pick it up though ;)

I have some new and used, watch out for cheap knock-offs

Thanks for the offer Ian. But I think I'd arrive DOA if I chose a VW social over my wife's birthday! LOL... I actually can't wait to see scrappy in person! Soon.

No, see you sell the trip to NAG as a fun trip for your wife on her birthday. Then you find Ian and do a drug-deal style handoff for the canceling ring.

I just reviewed the NAG website photo gallery and I'll say it again: I just loathe you California owners. So many cool cars, fantastic scenery, regular meetings. The pic on the Golden Gate Bridge was awesome.

Meanwhile, I'm stuck in the D.C./Baltimore ghettoplex. We have a group here that I belong to, Slowriders but meetings are slim and most of them are up in Baltimore or points north. I don't get to meet up nearly as often as I'd like.

The horn contact and turn signale canceling wring are not THING only, I have used the parts out of a Bug, and Bus, as long as the parts look like your, they will fit.
All it takes is removed the horn pad with four tugs on each corner, remove the horn wire from the under side of the horn pad, and then a large socket to remove the steering wheel nut.
On the under side of the steering wheel the horn contact and turn signal canceling ring is held in place with three or four small phillip head screws.
Install in the reverse oder, it would be a good thing to spray the steering wheel contacts where the turn signal and wipers contacts are at with parts cleaner. from time to time the copper wear and there are shavings that mess with the contacts, cleaned mine after installing a using ring and wow it works great.
We have two 74 THINGS

Found my old one. You can have it, it's sitting in my boot with the rest of my spares.
