I am restoring my 912 to a Rennsport Racer and am sticking with a VW 2.5L by Bergmann or Raby. I have started a blog describing my journey. Any helpful feedback would be great.

Check it out and let me know before I send anyone my money!!!

Since you mentions both in the same sentence, you obviously don't know the difference.

There is no comparison, JAKE RABY... if you want the best.

My program and Mr. Bergmann's share nothing in common.

I'd be happy to consult with you concerning the 912R and help create something that will compliment the vehicle.

I know where a KILLER 912 targa is that has one of my 2.6 liter EFI/ Direct fire engines installed. It has less than 500 miles on it and the Owner HAS to sell it fast. This is a 60K buck car that could be bought for pennies on the dollar. ready to drive.

I dont know Jake Raby but if you spent any time reading his data/research, he should be your first/only choice between the two.

Wow. I didn't expect there to be responses like that so quickly. I almost feel as though I have to go with a Raby engine or face the shame of the Samba community...

Are there any reasons why a BB engine is weaker? I'm expecting bias replies, but are there facts?

BTW, I have since ventured to your website, Jake, and really like what I see. Great work and great publications.

This project that I'm working on is something that deserves to be done right and I appreciate your input!

I will keep posting updates when I have them at

Thanks!!!

The two are so different that they can't be compared.

Either you buy an engine that you design yourself, built by someone who will allow you to do that, or you buy an engine from a guy that will design the best engine for your application based on his experience.

See this ad that I posted a few days ago here on the Samba...

Call me and then call Bernie think about it for a month and then make a decision- Don't allow these posts to impact your decision.

I will say that I am a conversion specialist- I KNOW what needs to be done to gain compatibility with your vehicle most effectively/

And I don't sell the DTM to any other engine builders :-)

Thanks for the no bull input. I will write about this overwhelming majority of Raby-heads in my blog

outlaw-rennsport.blogspot.com

I think the Samba crowd will appreciate the nod to Rabyism.
