Hey. Sorry that this is probably a boring post, but I just need some help. Thats what the site is for I guess. Well I've took some rusted areas down to bare metal using a wire-wheel and treated with naval jelly, so I'm wanting to prime these areas. I plan on painting the whole car next summer, so basically I'm just preventing these areas from rusting anymore until I officially paint it.

I dont own a compressor (Plan on getting one next summer), so my only option is to use a spray can primer. If you were me and had to use a spray can primer, what kind would you get? I'm on a budget but am considering the Epoxy 2k spray primer from Everwood.

Use the 98 cent cheap stuff.
Keep in mind that basic primer does not seal the water out.
You'll probably just sand it off later anyhow.

Honestly I'd get some rattle can etch primer. normal Primer is meant for adhesion for paint and like mentioned already doesn't help with rust prevention. Etch (and epoxy) are made to prevent rust.

the kind I've always used is ppg:

this stuff works very well. On something like this I would spend a few extra bucks to save yourself a lot of work later. Really cheap coatings don't hold out well for long periods of time. You'll be sanding rust away later for sure. Getting something better quality can save you a lot of time later.
