Before you ask, yes I've searched.
I just put a newly restored front bumper on my bus, and am trying to find a way to mount my driving lights without drilling any holes.
The search revealed various locations for mounting them, etc., but no real specifics on how they were mounted.
I'd appreciate pics and ideas on how you've done it, or would do it, without drilling holes through the bumper, uprights, or towel bar.
Thanks,
John |

Those are nice, but a little on the expensive side. The design wouldn't be that hard to emulate, but I've no tools to bend or shape metal.
Thanks for the input.

| There are straps(if thats what you want to call it) of thin metal like a hose clamp that have a rubber lining that you could put on the towel bar & mount the light to, but I really don't know where to get them sorry to say. |

| I got those straps at the local hardware store in the plumbing section. They worked great. |

I'm not sure I know what straps your speaking of. Do you have a pic of them mounted? Or what the straps look like?
Thanks,

Those look like license plate hangers. I'm surprised they're strong enough to support a light.
Do you get a lot of vibration using those, or are they fairly stable?
Thanks,

I've seen them mounted off of the upper bolts that hold the over riders to the rail before. You just have to find an "L" or fabricate one. I don't know if you want the lights mounted that far apart from one another though.

Those have that "clean" look that's hard to achieve when improvising. Please try to remember the source. I'd really like to have a set of them.
Thanks everyone, I appreciate your help.

BTW, does anyone know the OD of a towel bar? Thanks.
I can't find my calipers.
Thanks,
John
^^ Are those by any chance highway bar clamps for a Harley?

Those clamps look like something you might find at a bike shop, or maybe a motorcycle accessory clamp for a light, or a mirror for the handle bars. I hope this gives you some ideas :)
Later, Jeff
I type to slow. You got the idea the same time I did  |

I searched on bar clamps on eb@y and found some really sweet looking highway bar (foot-peg) mounting clamps for bikes. If the diameter of the towel bar is somewhere in the 1.125 to 1.25 range, they'd work very well.
I can't find my damn calipers! |

| I'm about to mount a vintage set of Fog Kings on the SC, and I'm using a set of training wheel brackets to do so. I've already got additional holes in the top of the bumper anyway, and these will allow the lights to step down and out in front of the bumper, between the bar and the bumper. Weather permitting, I'll have this done this week, so I'll post pics. when I'm done. |

Very cool. Thank you. Do you know if they're the right ID for the towel bar?
Thanks.

Yes, they come with multiple thin plastic sleeves to fit multiple size bars. The sleeves also keep them from scratching the bar. I think I didn't use them 'cause I wanted the lights under the bar, not over. |

I like it and I think that's the way to go. Thanks for your time and trouble. I really appreciate the help.
