I currently have the passenger side heater channel out of my 58 bug. I also have the quarter panel cut out. I do have the door braced with a piece of angle iron (thanks bug me video) and I was looking to take the body off of the pan completely. I was looking at putting it on some sawhorses like I have seen on this website and placing them in the fender wells.
Does anyone think I will have problems with the body flexing when I pick it up to put it on the saw horses? Thanks. |

If you have it braced properly it should be just fine. I'd leave the door closed and latched and just 'mind the gap' as you lift it off the pan. If the gap starts closing or opening up as you're lifting it, stop and check your bracing.
I used plastic adjustable saw horses and I think that was a mistake. They've flexed a lot more than I'm comfortable with.
I'm really glad I pulled the body off, as I've been able to properly fix a lot of areas that I didn't even know needed attention. |

| I have the passenger side door off, but I do have a piece of angle iron screwed in to the a and b pillars. I just am a little scared. I dont want a disaster. |
