Here's an old shovelhead that let go around 6 grand. Still not sure what happened, but we suspect rod stretch. Engine was done about 800 miles ago by another shop to the tune of $5800 for TOP END only! :shock: We get to assess damage and start from fresh. |

That'll buff out!
Seriously, any injuries to the driver? Gotta be shrapnel everywhere from that? What kind of compression was the engine running at? Probably had to steam clean the seat of the bike after that!

| Dude,i own a custom bike shop and have been around bikes my whole life and have never seen that before.i have had all the head bolts bust off before.you have got to let me know the reason that has happen when you find out. |

Friend of mine had his V-twin do that only it was the back cylinder.
It was an 150 CI injected nitro bike, maybe that was why............... :lol: |

Yep. Street engine, 4 5/8 stroke, 93 cu. in., 9.5.1 compression, new S&S cylinders and pistons. Dual plug heads, 505 Lineweber cam, mikuni HSR 42 carb. I'll be tearing into it later this week and will post my findings. |

| mongo, I had some S&S 80" cyls shatter like that once,just exploded. I wonder if they had a run of brittle ones? mid 07' production date on the box i had. |
