How do you drive your t3? What kind of person do you turn into behind its wheel?

For me i drive it gently for i'd never forgive myself if i totalled it. So respect for the old lady is what i'm all about.
What about you?

I drive it like I stole it! but that is still pretty slow. :D

Russ Wolfe Tue Nov 11, 2008 8:44 am

I don't drive it like I stole it, but like it was designed to be driven.

gixxer 711 Tue Nov 11, 2008 11:15 am

the car def calms me down, although it doesnt give me much of a choice

69SquareGuy Tue Nov 11, 2008 11:27 am

i baby mine. driving it slower allows more people to stare at it. able to get more thumbs up and hear more honks as i go by...

When it was my daily, I used to bomb that thing around pretty good, but now that I've embraced watercooled dubs, It won't be like that again. I can have all sorts of road-bourne fun in those & not have to worry about abusing my Square. I may plan on having a biggish motor in it, but it'll be more for playing around. I will take care of my 'back this time around. Once I finish resurecting it, that is. 8)

Oh, and I dig the avatar you're sportin Gixxer. I have the same grills on mine, but for brake cooling, not the A/C. Or so I kept telling myself anyways.

I abused my notchback. It was really low and hat a lot of toe in on the rear, so donuts were quick and easy. too easy really, any water on the road and it would want to swap ends, so I was always really really careful in the rain

Like a weekend car...relaxed and slow...the MK4 GTI is for the beating on!

Although did take the fasty on its longest haul yet of 40 minutes at 70mph-75mph...handled quite well!

Could of kept going I am sure, but without driving it every few days...I didn't want to push the ole girl too much!

I drive my square as much as humanly possible for this very reason - it doesn't allow me to act like a douchenozel like I am in my mkiv or even worse in my winter beater pickup. (it takes a real man to admit that btw) :)
I'm forced to just sit back and enjoy the drive, instead of racing to get where I'm going.

abgwin Tue Nov 11, 2008 3:42 pm

i'm only just now getting familiar enough with the Ghia to relax and enjoy the drive. still not happy with her top speed and would like the brakes a little firmer before i get too fast and loose with her, especially on tires i don't know the age of....

Pretty much the same here. There's a freeway entrance close to me and it's one of those that kinda loop around sharply, that I love to take during the wet season. Not quite donut status though. On the freeway I always, no matter what car I am driving, drive in the fast lane just about 5mph faster than the traffic traveling in the other lanes.

In the Square, I constantly check my rearview for anything out of the ordinary, and sometimes after passing I can spot people in the other cars pointing at mine. I don't know whether they are laughing at my car, or surprised that it passed them at 75mph, but I get pointed at which is pretty cool.

localboy Tue Nov 11, 2008 4:27 pm

Like Russ said, I drive it like it was meant to be driven. :|

69SquareGuy Tue Nov 11, 2008 5:20 pm

Then you must drive pretty fast with that huge motor localboy.

73notch Tue Nov 11, 2008 5:33 pm

I drive it normally most of the time, but ill bomb an on ramp or fun corner when the opportunity arises.

localboy Tue Nov 11, 2008 5:53 pm

 8-[

69SquareGuy Tue Nov 11, 2008 5:58 pm

my car would flip if i bombed around a freeway ramp.

oh wait...i only have a 1500.
