I don't like this Thread since it has 34 pictures that takes 2-3 minutes to load every time you click on it! Could you eliminate about 25-30 pictures? =D>

hey russ, that's what they were trying at the shop. tried for an hour and he was really pushing and pulling...tried a hammer and nothing budged. even pulled the shifter out to see if was something in there. i think the tranny is going to need to be taken apart.

So here's a little update: My tranny is in the process of being rebuilt by Rancho. Should be/hope it's done this week so I can cruise the squareback to pomona next sunday. This past wednesday I picked up some window rubber and trim so I could have a project for the 4 day weekend.

This was my first time doing window seals and I'm pretty proud of myself. The seals are a little small in my opinion. A few corners on the rear quarter windows are not as long as the should be and they want to roll. The seal is in there as good as it could be and it sealed(all that matters). Tomorrow I'm doing the pop-outs. :D Saving the winshield for iSP...Anthony said that since I've never done a windshield, and they break often, I might as well let them do it. I picked up the wrong left fresh air vent control knob. Mine have blue dots and the one I got doesn't. Oh well, I'll grab one on monday :D I'll get better pictures tomorrow. Forgot my camera and barely had enough time to snap the pictures above with my camera phone. More to come soon...tomorrow.

Got the car back earlier this week from having the transmission done. Installed short axles as well so I have more options down the line with wheel choice. Yesterday morning I installed some seals in the rear hatch area.

you mean the seam or the seal? cause the groove for the lid is upwards. why would the groove be downwards?

Yes groove down. Thats the way they came. It makes it springy I guess.

wouldn't groove upward cause two sealing spots instead of one? with same springy

that doesn't make much sense to me. the lid rim fits perfectly in that groove.

Its not suposed to fit in a groove but lie on top of a rubber surface. Its just not "correct" even though it works. Do what you want :wink:

the old seal that i took out, the groove was up. so, that's what i went by. as long as it works, it's ok by me. :wink:

Was the groove really up, or did the lid's shape over the years form a shallow groove in the otherwise flat top of the seal?

Groove down on this original car. Its the same in my 63 with the darker type rubber. Notice the depression the down groove leaves in the top of the rubber.
