Quote: The Secret Service takes a lot of risks for the first family. So it's only fair that the agency gets the honor of coming up with code names for the president-elect and his family. Various sources within the Buzz recently revealed the not-so-secret nicknames.

Mr. Obama will be known as "Renegade" (move over, Lorenzo Lamas). Michelle, a woman of many talents, will be referred to as "Renaissance." Malia Obama's name will be "Radiance," while little sister Sasha's will be "Rosebud."

WTF? Isn't the whole point behind the secret service the "SECRET" part? Whoever leaked, false leaked, or found out the secret code names and published them ought to be shot. What's the point in having a secret code name if it isn't secret anymore Now I know that they can change the name and may have false leaked these but it's still stupid. I swear people will report anything for a buck.

They are a useless tradition and have no real use anymore.

x2. They have gotten really, really good at scrambling radio frequency transmission, so don't need 'em anymore. They just do it for the press.

But I thought the Prez was always "Potus". Guess not.

They do it more for tradition than anything else these days. Mostly fun.

I don't speak Nawyahkese. Can you clarify your post?

"Useless" and "have real use" in the same sentence don't make no sense.

They can also track you with a cell phone even when it's not turned on. No matter where you are in the world, if you have a cell phone on you, they can find you.

I remember reading that somewhere, so it must be true.

Holy Shit are you serious? That scares me because I am always in places that I don't want the gubment to know where I am.

Glenn Tue Nov 11, 2008 8:18 pm

All they have to do is call me on my cell. I never lose myself.

I saw a documentary once where the guy's shoes, glasses, pen and beltbuckle were bugged and the gubment could trace him from anywhere.
He took them off and put them things in an empty potato chip bag, foiling their surveillance.

Just wrap your shoes, pens, glasses and beltbuckles in tin foil and you'll be fine.

Saw that article this morning and it made me curious so I looked up Presidential codenames on Wikipedia:

"Rawhide" is badass.

That was not a documentary, it was a movie: Enemy of the State.

Well, I guess if you are part of the general media or a democrat it is a documentary....

There's some decent material in there. For starters, George W. Bush's would've worked better for Gerald Ford. And Ted Kennedy's is a misdiagnosis.

So good of you to straighten him out on that. Otherwise he'll never learn.
