Well in a way it is a barn find. A good friend of mine inherited his grandfathers 58 ragtop that his grandfather bought new in 58. I am not sure when his grandpa died but the car ended up going to his sister. She let the car set outside (Michigan) for the last 5 years. I saw the car in a barn about 12 years ago at that time it had been sitting for several years but was in quite good condition. Unfortunately it is in much worse shape now. It is still very restorable. :D
He has enlisted my help with this project as I have restored 2 ghias, a 74 thing, and am driving a 87 syncro vanagon.
First thing we need to tackle is a complete brake job... What suppliers are you guys recommending for a project like this ?
Thanks for the help
Bob

Try George's Hot VW in Battle Creek Mi. You can find a number on the thegoodvolks.com in the forum section. He doesn't have a website but there is a phone number, and the goodvolks guys are always willing to help.

Yeah OK  I will get them early next week its on the lift at my shop right now.
The coolest thing about this car is Andys grandfather keep a fuel/mileage log in the glove compartment detailing every fill up since he bought it new. The last entry was in the late 60's and the car has only moved 13 miles since that time.
Whats the best way to kill that mouse pee smell ?

| There is a product sold at PETCO, and other pet suppliers that uses enzymes to kill the smell of urine. Can't remember what it's called, but ask for it, and they'll know exactly what you're talking about. Fortunately for me, the fuel line in my tunnel leaked all over the place, and apparently, fuel will kill the mouse pee smell too...or just cover it up...or just make you so light headed that you really don't care about it anymore :P |

| Not bad. Please do us all a favor though. Edit the post with the pics and put line breaks in between the last three. My monitor is 1680 wide, and I still had to scroll. |

Used to have a Pug with a bladder problem and used Nature's Miracle on pee spots. Totally gets rid of the smell and doesn't just cover it up.
