I was thinking of joing AAA and see the different levels.

If you have AAA, what level do you have?
Classic,
Plus,
Premier.

Premier has 1 200 mile tow and 3 -100 mile tows included.

hazetguy Wed Nov 12, 2008 11:49 am

plus. have had it for years.
it's saved my butt a few times. the years i don't need tows, i don't think i make up the cost of membership in maps, but it sure is nice to know the tow possibility is available.

Plus. Didn't know about Premier. Maybe it's not offered in New Jersey.

When I put in my zip, it redirects to aaasouth.com, so maybe its offered in select regions.

I'm in Florida and have Premier. mainly because I used to take my mustang to the drag strip and it was 74 miles from door to door.

Erik G Wed Nov 12, 2008 12:35 pm

plus or gold, I don't remember what it's called in CA. well worth it in my opinion

Plus-RV

Basically its Plus, but also includes motorcycles and trailers.

kingston1200 Wed Nov 12, 2008 12:38 pm

pre vw, classic. post vw, plus

Florida_Buggy Wed Nov 12, 2008 12:39 pm

what is classic?

Erik G Wed Nov 12, 2008 12:47 pm

i believe classic is your run of the mill, 10 mile tow. Plus is 4 100mile tows a year

Glenn Wed Nov 12, 2008 12:47 pm

Plus.

My daughter is in Syracuse and I didn't want her to have any problems if she broke down in her 10 year old Honda. She know to call AAA and have it towed to the nearest Honda dealer and i'd take it from there.

My wife knows to call AAA and then call me. And not to accept help from anyone else. You never know who's gonna stop. It's New York remember.

I had an alternator problem and had to have my Civic towed from New Jersey to my home on Long Island in the pouring rain. It took 2 hours to get a 60 mile tow across the state line but it was trouble free. Wound up being the connector on the alternator came off.

yep, here it's AAA carolinas...I have the plus versions, which has saved my butt a few times...

Plus. Longest tow was 96 miles from the breakdown to my house. I've probably had 7 tows over the past 6 years. One time my membership had lapsed. I had a car die so I called them. They told me I wasn't a member anymore, but went ahead and renewed it for me and give me an immediate tow. I make sure I keep it up to date now.

Plus.
Definitely worth it. It almost pays for itself, just in the times my wife locked her keys in her car
Only had to be towed once. VERY glad I had it.

I have worked for many AAA service providers and AAA themselves so some inside knowledge..

Each club is it's own franchise and can do there own thing as long as Big AAA says okay. Basic membership can cover 3 miles to 10 (or more maybe) depending on the club. Plus is 100 miles. Plus RV is 100 miles and covers motorcycles and CAMP trailers and campers, non camp trailers are not covered (and before you say but I got my ____ towed it is all up to supervisor discretion and the provider). Premier is a new idea that they started a few years back.

I have had a Plus RV (all Plus members for our club gets RV) for many years. And no they did not cover my little trailer that could fit in the back of a pickup when my truck was having cat problems.

if any of you ride a bike..

http://www.betterworldclub.com/

they are actually the same cost as my basic aaa with 7 mile tow. But with htme I get 100mile tow and i get a ride if my bike breaks down. I am thinking of making the switch, but I want to know how reliable they are.

Glenn give her your VW  It's one of the three CHEAP - FAST - RELIABLE
We know it wasn't CHEAP

If you insure with Hagerty you can get their service, and it's guaranteed flatbed towing:

Quote:
* 10 Mile Benefit Allowance – Stick close to home? This might be the plan for you. Hagerty Plus pays for the first 10 miles of emergency flatbed towing OR the first $50 of other roadside services, like fuel delivery, battery jumps and lockout service. This plan covers up to three incidents per year for your collector vehicles.
$24 per year
* 50 Mile Benefit Allowance – If you cruise to local shows, this plan could be a good option. Hagerty Plus pays for the first 50 miles of emergency flatbed towing OR the first $100 of other roadside services, like fuel delivery, battery jumps and lockout service. This plan covers up to three incidents per year for your collector vehicles, or trailers towing your collector vehicles. And, to ease the strain of a breakdown, we’ll call your family member or friend to pass along information regarding the incident.
$40 per year
* 125 Mile Benefit Allowance – If you travel further, this option is a good investment. Hagerty Plus pays for the first 125 miles of emergency flatbed towing OR the first $100 of other roadside services, like fuel delivery, battery jumps and lockout service, on up to three incidents per year. And, to ease the strain of a breakdown, we’ll call your family member or friend to pass along information regarding the incident.

This plan covers all of your cars, not just your collector cars. It also covers trailers towing your collector vehicles.
$85 per year
