| Can anyone help??? Looking to dress up my dune buggy engine. I am looking to dress up the block. Thinking paint to go along with the doghouse color and cooling fins color. Please advise proper steps, type of paint, or to not do it at all. Thanks! |

Not at all.
Some say yes and others say no.
I say no, it looks like crap after some time. And the paint can cause it to run hotter.
This is not a Cheby, the case is part of the cooling system and some paint can be a thermal barrier. |

| So just clean it up and stay with the color on the tins.... |

Works for me. Honestly you don't see much of the engine case once the tins are on.

| Thank you for sharing those pictures. I appreciate your help, I have asked a few of the members on the site and was not so lucky. I am newer at restoration of VW's, may I contact you with further questions if I run across something? Thank you in advance. |

I paint mine with dupli color 2 light coats.
In a buggy you wont have any heat problems unless you run a big motor with tons of compression. |

use these steps or the paint will not stick and you could have filaform cororison with a mag case. the important thing is clean and use a converson coating called Magnadine (spelling?) and a non ect epoxy primer..heres the deal we use in the aircraft world...

I have never seen a full flow setup like this, how / where is it tapped into the case? Especially the upper return (?) line? |

| Cant be much help i'm affraid , it was built by a local vw specialist before i bought the bus,i just removed it and gave it the 'bling' treatment. I know the guy has been into vw's for a long time and does all his engines this way. |
