Okay, let's try this again with pictures

Has anyone seen or know where this bug is? I sold it quite a few years back in Mesa, AZ to a guy named Michael Carpenter. it was a lowered 66. It was white, with gray highback seats with pink piping. Had stock chrome wheels/hubcaps. dark tinted windows. The only real distinguishing characteristics that may set it apart are a VW logo sandblasted into the rear window at the top, and the stereo mounted in the glovebox. I would REALLY like to know if this car is still around. even if it was totaled and sitting in some junkyard.

If you know where the car is or if you know Michael Carpenter please send me an email. I also have a copy of the VIN. to verify. And if buy some miracle the car is still on the road, I would like to talk about buying it from the owner.

thanks for reading

Anybody?

I used zabasearch.com and came up with alot of addresses. I don't know about AZ but in CA I went to the local DMV with the vin number and I was able to get the current owners name and search that and got in touch with them. Keep us informed and let us know if you find it

yeah in AZ the DMV won't give you any information if it is not in your name. I was trying to avoid making annoying phone calls to everyone with the same name, but i guess it might come down to that if I really want to persue it. I wish I had a friend at the DMV!

If you have a friend in law inforcement or at AAA's dmv part they could search the vin for you. Good luck and keep us informed of your progress and if I think of a way I'll pm you

thanks chet

the only problem with law enforcement is IF the car comes up reported stolen, the officer questioning the Vin must find the vehicle.(or so I was told)

Anyone here in AZ have access to search the VIN?

I know this is off the topic but could you give me a little info on the suspension and what u did to get that stance on the car. I love it

It was quite a few years back, but if I remember correctly.......rear was only down 1 outer notch. the front was standard width, with adjusters welded in rotated 1/4" lower than stock at the highest setting, then adjusted a little lower, and finally 2" drop spindles. rear tires stock 165's front 135's.
thanks for the thumbs up! I know it's a shot in the dark trying to find it, and I am not having any luck but what the hell. I had to try.

well I got a VIN search done and it came back with nothing so it has not been registered here in AZ for at least 5 years(that is when records drop from the system). Sounds like a lost cause, but thanks for the replies and all who looked.

I found this on craigslist the other night. It's in CT and it has a few little differences but it's the same color, has highbacks, and 4-luggers.

I don't know if it's true or not but I've been told if you have the VIN some junkyards can search some sort of national database to see if it's been scrapped.

interesting, I will try that

thanks

While I am not trying to find a past VW...yet, I am looking for the last registered owner of my 58 to get more history on the car. The problem is that when you do a people search you find that a lot of people share that particular name? I can't do a vin search because the Car has not been registered since 1984, and so has been purged from the California DMV data base :(
