I dont have any of me with the airplane...but here's a few you might enjoy...

The above two pics were taken at a stop in Sedona, AZ. Personally, I think its the most beautiful airport I've ever been to...and also a bit of a challenge (in a jet) due to the elevation, runway length, and surrounding terrain. The airport sits on top of a 500 foot tall mesa with sheer dropoffs on either end. Total elevation of the airport is about 5,000ft, and the runway is only about that long, which is fairly short for a jet. There's a great little restaurant on the field...and thats one of the Hawkers I fly professionally.

The above three pics are the approach sequence to the island of Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands. There's a mountain immediately to our left, which is why we aren't already lined up with the runway. Also note...no room for error on either end of the runway!

How friggen awesome is that? Years ago, I had an employee who was a student at Emory Riddle in Chino Valley AZ. He had a small Cessina plane that he'd take me up in all the time. Let me fly it a couple of times and I always chickened out on the landing sequence. I envy that life. I'd love to be a pilot.

In that last picture, umm... is that the end of the runway dropping off into neverneverland???!!??

How difficult is it to become a pilot? I know there are aeronautical schools that offer degrees and certifications in certain types of planes and instruments and all that, but at the end of the day, is it a career that can be had with the right amount of motivation?

catalina is crazy. i'm not a pilot but a friend of mine was. he crashed on take-off from there nearly ten years ago. lost four friends that day...
