View original topic: Best side mirrors for a Panel?

Ok, I know they are not correct on my 59 but I currently have the WW repop elephant ears. They look nice but vibrate all over the place and the arms don't seem far enough out from the sides of the bus for good visibility.
Does anyone have any recommendations on other mirrors that will hinge mount and are of good solid non-shakey quality and don't look too funky?
Just trying to keep it safe as this is my daily driver.

Banjo/harp arms with 6" round convex mirrors (from a big rig). The mirrors look close to stock and allow you to see two lanes on each side. And they don't vibrate. I have been toying with switching to M194 mirror (repros) but I haven't read any feedback on them.
What's the word Mr. Warehouse?

i am rolling with the ww elephant ears. I agree they vibrate like crazy and do not extend out enough. I turned the mirror portion parallel to the ground (perpendicular to the door)and put a 3inch convex mirror on the small miror end. Interestingly enough, the convex mirror does not vibrate even though it is on the elephant ear mirror :? works really nice and gives much better visibility on the panels. the convex mirrors are cheap too. try this setup out, works for my panel i cant imagine how they managed with just one round mirror on these back in the day

I know they can be spendy, but I added a backup camera to my Dodge power wagon. The fish-eye lens lets me see everything. Now, they even make some pretty flush surface mounted cameras. I'm sure you could even put one inside a hella backup light body if you got creative.

Convex is the way to go. I gots the big ears vibrate just like the rest just watch traffic closely. On the bright side people are always nice to let me know when lane is clear and stuff.

A properly adjusted mirror of any kind will work well. Panels are not that bad and any stock mirror will work. With a trailer behind I used an elephant mirror with them set up like a flag (small end out). My high roof has regular rounds and works fine (with the right arms). You do need to learn how to drive like you are in a truck and always know what is going on around you and signal early.

There is a whole line setup that you can do for mirror adjustment but for a general idea is have something set up on your side (where a car would be) and adjust to that. You do not want to see much of the actual bus. With smalls you will have to move a bit to see everything, not a big deal.
