a few days ago i lost 12v to lights but radio worked and could start up now i can't start it some dash lights come on but that's it i just charged the main battery at an autozone because it's not charging wile i drive it's not on the driver side but on the passenger side as a post battery plus a solar kit and second battery is on it but the solar doesn't seam to be charging anything i test with a meter that even the positive terminal is connecting to the ground somewhere
batteries are draining within 2 hours before i try to strip this van to just a rolling shell to figure out what's up anyone have an idea what it might be??

thank you verry much in advance.... :(

Sounds like your alternator isn't working.
The main battery is on the passenger side
Charge the battery again and get the van running.
Check the voltage at the battery with the van running
It should be around 13.5 volts or better, if it's still 12 volts the alt isn't changing the battery.

thanks for the help mighty! I did some fiddling around and got it started and with all the lights off i'm getting 13.45v also fixed the lack of dome lights on the 12v blown fuse finding a short behind the light over the stove
with all the lights on it's testing at 13.10v theres wires behind the dash and next to that second battery system that are free hanging so i should round them up also that second battery system looks pretty messy
sounds like bad grounds and shorts anything i'm missing ?

You need to check for leak downs. Pull the negative cable off the battery and then put a volt meter between the post and the terminal on the cable. You will probably see that it reads 12V when it should be reading almost nothing. Now pull all the fuses and see if the voltage drops to zero.

Oh, C'Mon CJ, he had periods on top of every lower case i :D does that count for something :?: Still dizzy from processing the run on on on on on on on on on on on on on...which I would probably also do if I just purchased a westy and experienced a dead 82 westy within hours......

I guess none of this matters since its been two hours since your post and the van is already strippped.

Periods really do assist in the comprehension of sentences
