| Ok I searched and I know that the zwitter courtesy light is as rare as Detroit Lions victory, I never see one come up for sale, has anyone ever made a repro or repair them? The original one I have works but has a nice little "overheated" bulge and the chrome worn (aka patina). Rare can be a real PITA some times! |

Occassionally they come up, but its rare nowadays. Never have I seen a mint or NOS original come up for sale. The electrical contact areas are restorable, as they are similar in design over the later domelights. When we repair them we have to cannibalize parts from two later oval domelights to repair or to fully create one Zwitter domelight (repro lense, original electrical contacts/springs). You can see our ad below, we're not looking for business, just answering your question here about who makes a reproduction, since right now you would be looking at 3 months or so anyways to get one given our heavy backlog here.

The bulge on yours isn't really restorable, you could experiment but old plastic does funky things when messed with, best to leave it alone if possible depending on what level restoration you may be doing. The chrome is deposited by vacuum metallization, not something that can be practically replaced for just one piece and I've yet to locate anyone who would even touch one piece. |
