| just a quick question for the split gurus out there. I recently picked up a very nice set of front fenders that came off a California car, and was wondering what they may be worth, I'm not really in a hurry to sell them I'm mainly wondering what their value might be. they have just been "Strip Cleaned" to bare metal. I will post pics in the gallery area... Thx :) Mark |

| Sorry I asked, I love this site but usually don't post due to the drama. These fenders are sitting in my garage in Chandler, do you think they are photo shopped or pieces hacked together ?? I don't quite understand!!! I have an oval and I picked them up while looking for oval parts. I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass or pull a fast one on anybody. I can take more pictures... I was just curious about their value!!! Mark |

Mark, the only drama is in your mind..your so afraid of being ripped on your self-manufacturing it. I was joking about $10.00 and in fact the pics are shot at wierd angles so Im not entirely sure if they are real or if someone has created them... no one thinks your a criminal or pulling a fast one. Fenders are easier to determine if you shoot them on the angles that everyone is used to seeing like.. straight on... side view, that's my opinion anyway. Split Fenders are wider, the wheel well opening is different and the area where they meet the running boards are different than late models
That being said.... threads like this.... "hey, what do you think this is worth" will NEVER go over well with Sambanistas. (it's perceived as circumventing the Samba Ads to tout your goods and get top dollar)
If you come on saying.... "hey are these real Split Fenders" I think you will get a lively discussion. If you post as you did.. what your going to get is a littany of smart ass answers (see my $10.00 comment), and almost no help at all. What they are worth is subjective. To me in AZ, they are rusty.. to someone in North Carolina they are pristine.
I see the Samba Drama rap all over.. on Lowlife, D3 site, AZbaja.. and what I can tell you is that, the only drama in the Split section is the drama manufactured by newcomers who think that this is The Splitwindow version of Antiques Roadshow. oh.. and Gary and John are at each others throats every once in a while.. but that's a spectator sport! |

Are you joking? Or just being an argumentative arse for some reason that I cannot see here?
I dont see the problem with someone just wanting to get the most money they can for something they have, that is very hard to come by, and does not have a definite fixed value, based on the fact they do not come up often enough for easy price comparisons.
This is a split beetle forum, so surely exactly the right place for people to post and find out such information!
In answer to the original question, The wing posted in classifieds is the right money. Even a front split wing that needs quite a lot of rebuilding is worth £200.
(A good genuine front up to £500 and more..)
This is what they actually do sell for over here, not fiction.
I dont think they are any cheaper in the US?
Good luck selling :D |

I have to side with 52hoffmansplit on this one.
More often than not, people come on here, asking what something is worth, just to peddle their wares and start a private auction. (I am not accusing the OP of this)
There is a classified section for that, and if you are still not certain of what to ask for it, then put it on ebay. Then, what it sells for, is what it is worth. |

Again I apologize about the way I approached this. I meant no ill intent I was just was hoping to validate my excitement, didn't want be to overjoyed if the experts said these were some sort of aftermarket copy or something.
I can post more pics if anyone is interested...

Rusty fenders are rusty
did they wash up on the California shore? just messing with you dude but a whole set of 4 real split fenders that are not rusty are getting to be worth $1000 a set, people are even discussing reproducing them for a similar sum, the fronts are a little harder to fake than the rears but a pristine as NOS front split fender may be worth like $300+ depending on the economy / exchange rate, location, shipping etc, deduct from yours the going rate for several hours of body work and the price of donor fenders to cut up to fix those and you have a good starting point |

Heikki,
Like I told you several time before, if you have a problem with the fenders , just hop in and let us fix the problem, otherwise stop complaining ,Its so easy to give people a bad name like thiefs and bondo specialists ! Just come to OPA and let them fix the problem !
If I think somebody ripped me off, I would talk with him in person, not on the phone and not on the internet !
This is not funny anymore ! If I was you , I would stop with your childish attitude and solve your problem like a man !
