is it a coachbuilt car based on a 356?

LennyC Sat Nov 15, 2008 1:06 pm

If I had to guess, some old fiat????

jmsmilin Sat Nov 15, 2008 1:17 pm

its real, but the ragtop is not orignal

bt Sat Nov 15, 2008 1:39 pm

I was thinking old Fiat also but I did a search, I couldnt find a Fiat that had those body lines. The engine lid hinges look like something from an Italian car.

I think the 356 items were added by the owner.

That looks like a Ghia plate light.

I've seen one of those before but I can't remember for the life of me what it is.

Wiggy Sat Nov 15, 2008 1:54 pm

Looks like the infamous Bondomobile.

deluxekombi67 Sat Nov 15, 2008 2:10 pm

i dontk know what it is but it looks bad ass

Viande Sat Nov 15, 2008 2:23 pm

1950 something Fiat would be my guess. Very similar lines to the Zagato versions of that period.

KaraAnn Sat Nov 15, 2008 2:34 pm

Front looks more like an Alfa Romeo? Otherwise a Fiat would be my next guess...

chickengeorge Sat Nov 15, 2008 2:38 pm

Whatever it is, it looks to be originally rear engined. NSU had a coupe that was sportier than the Corvair look-alike they sold most of. Renault maybe? It's got VW/Porsche stuff all over it, but it could have all been scabbed on for lack of original parts and to go with the new powerplant.

the front is similar to:

but not quite...

so-calvwdude Sat Nov 15, 2008 4:01 pm

Looks like it is built with bondo.

vweddie Sat Nov 15, 2008 4:27 pm

Looks like a ghia underneath all that bondo. Look at the tank up front, rear t-bar locations, rear package tray, etc.

Dubbers Toy Box Sat Nov 15, 2008 4:34 pm

looks like a variation of an enzmann
kind of like a hard top version if a spyder

looks pretty cool whatever it is

It's gotta be an Apal, a fairly common replica of the rare Abarth Porsche.

bt Sun Nov 16, 2008 7:34 am

I think we can rule out replicas (and fiberglass cars) because its metal.

A quick search on google for Apal and i found these:

Pumas are fiberglass
