I just traded for this fasty. It won't start and believe me it is for obvious reasons. Here are some pics of the engine. Can anyone tell me where some of these wires go and what is missing?

Don't know about the wiring, but you've got two left side carbs and a screwy linkage.

Quote: what is missing?

...the fuel injection.

Front engine tin, heat exchangers, if carbed...mechanical fuel pump.....

The black wire with the fuse holder is for the reverse lights, it should plug into +12v at the coil, the other end should go to reverse switch at the transmission. The Y connector is also for the backup lights - the missing wire should come from the reverse switch and plug into that connector. These wires aren't really a big deal, you can leave these alone while you get everything else fixed.

As for the other wires, you can find wiring diagrams here:

Looks like you're also missing the tin at the front of the engine, where the accelerator cable and gas lines go through.

Wilson, welcome to the community! 1971, right? If so, the best year, especially in the way of F.I..

I hate to say it, but your Fastback has issues. The windows need to be pulled and checked for rust/ bondo, engine needs to have the fuel injection put back, or correct/install carbs including the right pump, check the wiring, different exhaust (your shins and lungs will thank you), seal around the rear trunk lid, need the wiper switch (there is something else missing, but not sure what it would be for), wiring, the fan shroud openings need to be addressed, wrong year gauge(s) depending on your year, and the rear tin installed.

I do see that it appears the conversion to carbs was just started, so you still have a good amount of F.I. parts. It may be easier going back, then trying to figure out how to convert and find all the parts.

Also nice is the original cobalt blue color, which I only have seen one in person, and man, it is one good looking, and rich color! Look even more sharp in blue or white interior, which would be cooler than the black.

An added plus is the pans are nut rusted through, and the rest seems minor.

I have that rear tin. PM. me if interested: I will give you a good deal so you can get on the road that sooner.

What are your plans? If you are going to redo the headliner, clean out the rear pillars: there is foam in them which rusts the bottom of the pillars. You can get closed cell foam which does not cause rust, or something that will not trap water. They are there to keep the cabin separate from the engine bay.

Hope I did not miss anything, and this was of some help.

I found a air cleaner for the dual carbs. Yes there are 2 left side carbs, I'm trying to remedy that. The fuel pump was moved to the front of the fasty under the fuel tank. Don't ask me why that's how I got it. I got it to turn over yesterday so that was a pretty big deal.

As for the color, it was blue inside and out. Not sure why it was painted the lame yellowish color.

Forgot to mention it is a '70. The fuel injection was torn out when the engine was rebuilt. Rebuild a little half assed if you ask me.

The body is a '71, because of the wipers, dash vents and louvers (You can also check the column: the ignition should have wires a few inches long, with a snap in plug for the housing, that plugs into the main harness, which are both rectangular). It may be built in '70, but starting in August, they are '71 model years. This then means you have the wrong speedometer, thus no clue of its millage.

Torn is a good word. Everything looks lamely done, I hate to say. That means you will know your car better, because you will have to correct everything. If it was mine, I would take it down and apart, and start fresh and right. This would allow you to go back to blue.

I could see that. That is why I mentioned it. I am glad you agree about the yellow: hate to have the owner of which I am critical of their car, love it!
