I have a 57' body on a 68' pan and i bought the steering column housing thinking I could use the same column, but I was told that the columns are different for a 57'. Is this true? If so am I going to need any other parts for the change over besides the column?

Now it seems the thing to do would be,,, to pack your self out with the column and see if it fit's. FYI you didn't say what year the column is.

The column is from a 68' and has the column lock and I would like to switch it over to the column off a 57', but all that I have been able to find was the column cover tube. I believe I need the early column and turn signal switch and i'm hoping the steering box will still work.

My '57 sits on a '68 pan, I used the original '57 column and hooked it up to the '68 steering box, but I had to use 2 steering coupling bushings and longer bolts. Don't forget to run a ground wire across the parts or your horn won't work.
