This is believed to be the first Beutler conversion based on a beetle chassis. It was displayed for the first time at the Geneve motor show in 1954...

and 56 years later in Essen:

@Guido: to bad you couldn't go to Essen  , but keep up the good :vw: spirit !

The show was as usual BIG.
The VW hall was huge and the center piece was full of coachbuilt cars.
Rometsch Lawrence coupé, Rometsch Beeskow splitwindow convert and coupé, Hebmuller, Stoll, Denzel, 2 Beutlers and some Karmann Ghias and the half-split 49.
I just missed there a Karmann convert as the theme was obvious Coachbuilt...

Well there are other cars missing there if it comes to coachbuilt.
I had made some good contacts on this stand to support my research on the Hebmuller history. 8)

On the parts that were for sale I did not see lots of VW parts as usual.
Best regards.

Here´s a Beutler bodied BMW V8 that I snapped a few weeks ago. Very similar design to the VW beutler Coupés - just much bigger.

Here's a preview of the 11-page article about this car in the latest edition of ClassicVW MAGazine (only available in Dutch language...).

Thanks to Traugott & Christian Grundmann for the opportunity to shoot the car (one of the most special cars I ever photographed) at their premises in Hessisch Oldendorf. 8)
